Why do you have to cook in my home? Why can't you deliver the meals?
By preparing the meals in your kitchen you are assured of sanitary conditions. Also, Oregon law requires Personal Chefs to use their clients' kitchens unless the Chef has access to a commercial kitchen.

Do I need to be home when you cook?
No, in fact, most of my clients are not home when I'm there. They either provide me with a key and an alarm code, if necessary, or, they let me in when I arrive and I lock up as I leave. I will keep your information in the strictest confidence.

How much time will you need in my kitchen?
It typically takes me between 5-7 hours, depending on the number of people I’m cooking for.

Do I need to provide any equipment?
No, I will bring my own cookware, utensils, containers, etc.

What do I need to do to prepare for the cooking day?
Please make sure the kitchen counters are cleared and clean to ensure sanitary working conditions. Your refrigerator, freezer, stove, oven and microwave must be in good working order. The refrigerator and freezer also need to have one empty shelf in each to store your meals!

Are you insured?
I am insured through my membership in the United States Personal Chef Association. I also have my Oregon business license and an Oregon State Food Handler's Safety Certificate.

What type of containers will you store the food in?
I prefer to use reusable and/or recyclable containers such as Gladware. All oven baked entrees will be stored in aluminum foil pans. I will also use Zip loc bags for certain items.

Do the prices include the cost of the groceries?
Yes, all pricing includes groceries except in the case of of organic groceries, please see the Services and Pricing page. I provide most pantry items such as spices, oils and vinegars. 

Are all the meals frozen?
Most clients request that one or two entrees be left in the refrigerator to be eaten within 3-4 days. If one of your entrees is a fresh fish selection that is typically eaten on the day I cook for you. The balance of the meals will be stored in the freezer.

Can you do catering?
I can cook for small dinner parties up to 6 people, using your kitchen, china, silver etc. Please feel free to call or e-mail for details.
